K9 Allsorts Grooming Parlour hands out over 500 Easter eggs to locals

Mandy Brown, owner of K9 Allsorts Grooming Parlour, and her team had a great Easter handing out Easter eggs.

K9 Allsorts Grooming Parlour, situated in Germiston, collected over 500 Easter eggs with the intention of making residents’ Easter holiday’s a little more special.

Mandy Brown, the owner of the parlour, set out to hand out Easter eggs to old age homes and children’s homes in Germiston, with the help of the parlour’s mascot, Kirsty the Hound.

The two were assisted by a Laerskool Die President representative and learner Siya Moloi, friends Samantha Grey, Anastasia Penrose and Kayla Markwhat.

“Laerskool Die President played a central role in collecting the Easter eggs that were distributed and we are grateful for their assistance.

“Other than the school we received help from a number of community members, with a special mention going to 89-year-old ‘Ouma B’ from Elsburg who heard of our project and insisted we come by her house to get a box filled with Easter eggs,” said Mandy.

“With the success of this collection, we now need more people to help in distributing them.

“We had a successful drive and we anticipate greater success next year.”

Residents of Elandsvallei Home for the Aged, El-Shammah Home For Abandoned Babies, Prim Villa Frail Care, Solheim Retirement Home, Germiston Association for the Aged and Cora Erasmus Old Age Home all received a visit from the team as did a few Boksburg homes.

“At the end of the day on Saturday, we realised we still had a few more boxes left, so Monday morning I went over to Boksburg. I started at a local informal settlement and handed out a few eggs and proceeded to Jubilee Place of Safety and Detention and a nearby soup kitchen where I did my last hand out,” said Mandy.
