Katlehong police nab 21 suspects in weekend operation

Through a series of operations the Katlehong police arrested 21 suspects, this weekend.

It was a busy weekend for the Katlehong police with the arrest of 21 suspects from March 23 to 25.

The operations, which included a number of stop-and-searches, were carried out by officers from the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of detectives from the Katlehong Police Station.

The accused were arrested for various offences.

Charges included:

Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 6

Theft: 3

Shoplifting: 3

Malicious damage to property: 2

Trespassing: 1

Driving under the influence of alcohol: 1

Intimidation: 1

Possession of drugs: 4

All of the arrested suspects were taken to the Katlehong Police Station.

They later appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

Acting station commander Col Nomthandeki Mthembu applauded all the officers involved in the arrests and encouraged them to keep up the hard work.
