Motorists advised to use alternative routes due to flooding in certain Germiston areas

Due to heavy rains some areas in Germiston have been flooded.

Germiston woke up to grey skies on Thursday and has since experienced localised flooding due to heavy rainfall.

Motorists are advised to avoid flooded areas and use alternative routes where possible and avoid low lying areas.

Main Reef and Shamrock roads experienced flooding on Friday morning at about 6am but this has started to clear up, while Knights Road has also begun to clear up allowing traffic to pass through with no interruptions.

The persistent rainfall has also caused flooding on President Street in the CBD right under the bridge.

William Ntladi, the district manager media liaison for Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) also warned motorists and pedestrians to steer clear of Masakhane Street in Katlehong as it has been closed due to flooding.
