Criminals targeted in Katlehong

Katlehong police arrest 13 suspects in Human Right’s Day stop-and-search.

While many were enjoying a day off on Wednesday, the Katlehong police’s Crime Prevention Unit and detectives from the Katlehong Police Station held a stop-and-search operation.

The operation led to the arrest of 13 suspects, who were charged with various offences.

Charges included:

Rape: 1

Possession of dagga: 1

Statutory rape: 1

Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 3

Malicious damage to property: 1

Pointing a firearm: 1

Warrant of arrest: 1

Possession of drugs: 4

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed.

Police will continue to hold similar operations in the hope of curbing crime in the area.
