Man nabbed for drugs linked to multiple charges after arrest

A man was apprehended by the SAPS K9 Unit for possession of drugs in Primrose.

Rietfontein Road has been identified as a drug hot spot in Primrose by the Primrose police and as a result, officers often patrol the area.

During one of these patrols, the SAPS K9 Unit arrested a 34-year-old man for possession of drugs at the corner of Rietfontein and Violet roads.

“The man, who was acting suspiciously, was found with a white substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine and a syringe in his possession,” said Sgt Styles Maome, the communications officer for the Primrose police.

The man was taken to the Primrose Police Station.

“During questioning the accused confirmed to officers that the substance in his possession was crystal methamphetamine which he is using,” said Maome.

During processing, it was discovered through the use of a micro connectivity device, that the suspect is wanted by the Kempton Park, Benoni and Boksburg North Police Stations for various charges.

“Once he has appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, he will also be handed over to the other stations to face the charges,” said Maome.
