Katlehong police aim to curb crime in the area

Katlehong police arrest 14 suspects through various weekend operations.

In continued efforts to combat crime in Katlehong the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit held several operations over the weekend.

The operations were held from March 2 to 4 and led to the arrest of 14 suspects.

The accused were charged with various offences, including:

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 6

• Rape: 1

• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 2

• Malicious damage to property: 1

• Possession of dagga: 4

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

The acting station commander for the Katlehong SAPS, Col Nomthandeki Mthembu, was impressed with the unit’s efforts and encouraged them to continue their hard work, with some more attention given to hijackings and robberies in the area.

“Together we can bring the level of crime down,” said Mthembu.
