High praises for CPF and Primrose police

Primrose resident proud of the law enforcement in the area and wants the whole community to know.

A Primrose resident, Ezekiel Cahombo, wants to let the community know of his support for and appreciation of the local police department and further thanks the CPF for their advice and efforts in assisting him and his family after an unfortunate ordeal they recently endured.

Cahombo, his cousin Queen Carvalho and her six-month-old baby were recently hijacked in Primrose, on the corner of Pansy Road and Beaconsfield Avenue just after 9pm.

They were attacked by four perpetrators.

“Two of the four perpetrators were armed. One had a Makarov pistol and the other carried a SAPS service pistol look-a-like,” said Cahombo.

“Before the incident occurred we made stop at the Primrose Police Station and we made another stop at a local pharmacy nearby which lasted approximately 20 minutes.”

Carvalho sustained minor injuries on her nose and her knees after a physical fight broke out between her, Cahombo and the perpetrators when they refused to give her the baby but eventually they did.

“The baby was literally thrown to her,” said Cahombo.

The getaway vehicle was described as a white 2008 Nissan hardbody double cab, with a cover, roof rack and tinted windows.

The CPF was the first to arrive on the scene.

“A member of the Primrose CPF arranged that the police meet with me at the pharmacy as I had rushed there in hopes of getting a copy of their CCTV footage to see whether we had been followed,” said Cahombo.

“Upon arrival, Sgt Vincent Nkosi assured us that he and his team would find our vehicle and he recalled a similar incident that happened to him in November 2017.”

The vehicle was located and recovered in Tembisa two hours later.

“Unfortunately we weren’t able to recover our belongings which were in the car, but the car was safely recovered and still in good condition,” said Cahombo.

The perpetrators have not yet been apprehended.

Sgt Styles Maome of the Primrose police confirmed to the GCN that the case was still under investigation.

“I feel that the Primrose SAPS and the CPF deserve praise for their hard work, and efforts in assisting us with the recovery of the vehicle and in supporting us with immediate trauma counselling,” said Cahombo.
