#CabinetReshuffle: Former Ekurhuleni mayor now deputy minister of finance

Former Ekurhuleni mayor, Mondli Gungubele, is now the deputy minister of finance. This was announced during President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet reshuffle, last Tuesday. Ramaphosa told the nation these changes are intended to ensure that national government is equipped to implement the mandate of the administration and the tasks identified in his State of the Nation Address.

A wet weekend ahead for Germiston

As clouds recently began to gather over Germiston, the South African Weather Service asked residents to be prepared for rain. In addition to the warning of heavy rains, over the central and southern parts of Gauteng, the service warned of severe thunderstorms and damaging winds.

Hijacked vehicle recovered quickly in Katlehong

Working swiftly, the EMPD Public Order Policing Unit members recently tracked down a vehicle a few hours after it had been hijacked. The vehicle, an Isuzu LDV, was hijacked in the Khuluma section of Katlehong at noon and was recovered in the same section of Katlehong at 3.35pm.

A new hygienic era for Germiston Taxi Rank

A partnership between the metro, taxi associations and hawkers, marks a new hygienic era and an end to filthiness at the Germiston Taxi Rank. This was confirmed in Germiston.

Great victory for Laerskool Oosterkruin

Teachers and learners at Laerskool Oosterkruin are walking around with big smiles and with good reason. The school recently won their pool at the Germiston North district inter-primary athletics event for the second year in a row. The 67 athletes from Laerskool Oosterkruin competed against competitors from Leeuwenhof Akademie, Primrose Primary, Bedfordview Primary and Edenglen Primary.
