Germiston artist to release second EP

Thabang ‘Lilkxdo Twice’ Mbele to release new EP.

Seventeen-year-old Germiston CBD resident Thabang Mbele, also known as Lilkxdo Twice, burst onto the music scene in 2017 with the release of his first EP (extended play), I’m coming through, and he’s now ready to release his second EP, Finesse.

The Germiston High School Grade 11 learner gained street credibility in Germiston and the northern suburbs of Johannesburg following the release of I’m coming through, which allowed him to work with well-known producers and local music artists such as Moolanair and Miclox.

“Moolanair gave me a confidence boost by allowing me to be featured on his songs and by featuring on my projects,” said Thabang.

“I admire his work ethic, and his mentorship and guidance pushed me to a new musical level.”

After experimenting with different genres last year, Thabang was inspired to take a rhythm and blues approach to his forthcoming EP.

“I have been hunting my sound, and I’ve figured out my musical path lies in trap soul.

“Trap soul is contemporary R&B with rap beats and a lot of singing with a soulful effect,” said Thabang.

Finesse is about a man who loves a woman he can’t seem to get, and when he finally does they’re both in relationships and they try making sense of it all.”

Finesse was supposed to be released in November but was pushed to March 16, ahead of what will be Thabang’s biggest performance yet, at the Joburg Summer Shut Down event scheduled to take place at the FNB Stadium on March 31.

“I have associated myself with people who share the same vision as me, and that has helped me find my sound,” said Thabang

“As a result I am proud of the work I have devoted myself to in this project.”

“None of this is easy for me, I am still trying to get my parents to understand my career path, which includes animation and fashion too.

“To other youngsters with hopes of making it in this industry, I urge them to keep focused and never give up on their dreams.”
