Vehicle stolen in Pretoria recovered in Rondebult

A Toyota LDV was recovered by EMPD officers in Germiston.  

A white Toyota LDV was stolen in the early hours of last Tuesday morning in Pretoria.

The EMPD Public Order Policing Unit members picked up the vehicle’s tracking signal at about midday which pointed to the vehicle movement being in the Germiston area.

The badly stripped dashboard of the Toyota LDV recovered in Rondebult, last Tuesday.

“Via GPS tracking coordinates, the metro police was able to locate the vehicle on Umbombo Street in Rondebult,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

“The vehicle was found abandoned with the dashboard badly stripped and fitted with false number plates.

“A jammer – a gadget used to avoid detection by the tracking system – was found in a bag inside the recovered Toyota.”

The 12-fin jammer found in a bag in the recovered Toyota LDV, last Tuesday, by members of the EMPD Public Order Policing Unit.

Forensics was summoned to the scene to lift fingerprints and later the vehicle was towed to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni for further investigation and safe-keeping.

The 12-fin jammer was booked in as evidence at the Elsburg Police Station.
