A-grade water quality is assured

Rand Water assures that they still provide water that is safe to drink albeit their main water supply, the Vaal Dam was reported to have an increasing collection of impurities.

The Vaal Dam, which supplies many Gauteng municipalities with water, was recently reported to have localised pollution that could be hazardous to consumer’s health.

Although their main supply of water is the Vaal Dam, Rand Water claims that they abstract raw water from the Vaal Dam that is located upstream of these reported pollution incidents and purifies the water to meet current drinking water standards.

“Rand Water has taken note of the recent media reports in respect of concerns regarding localised pollution in parts of the Vaal River system.

“Mindful of the fact that the integrity of all surface and groundwater resources must be protected, it is important to assure consumers within our service area that Rand Water will continue to provide drinking water of high quality,” said Justice Mohale, media relations manager at Rand Water.
