Church helps those who need it most

Dunamis International Family Church goes the extra mile to aid others.

The festive season saw Dunamis International Family Church hold a remarkably successful Christmas Drive.

The drive was initiated at the beginning of November, last year, and ran until December 12.

The drive’s main focus was the following establishments:

• SAVF Die Anker old age home in Germiston South;

• Germiston SPCA; and

• TLC, a children’s home, in Walkerville.

The church started the initiative with not only Acts 20:35 in mind which reads, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” but also with the words of Nelson Mandela, “There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything return” in mind hoping they would inspire other people to shift their mindset from taking and receiving to loving and giving – not only gifts but also their time.

In order to make the drive successful, they flooded their social media platforms with videos and designs of the project, with the church’s CEO, Dr Phillicia Bester, as the ambassador for the project.

“We had a volunteer gladly donate boxes to our foyer for all the donations we had coming in.

“Each section in our organisation, namely the children, adults and youth were effectively mobilised to collect as much as they could, for the benefit of the project,” said Elvira du Toit on behalf of Dunamis International Family Church.

“When the time came to deliver all the gifts, clothes and food we had different teams of all ages and genders visit each of the organisations to not only hand out the gifts but to spend quality time with each person and animal.

“The children were also taught a great deal with regards to the function the local SPCA’s play in our communities.

“We would like to thank PackSolve for the box donations, every person involved at Dunamis International Family Church and the community who made this project a huge success.

“We hope you will be inspired to make a change and make a difference in your community.”
