Laerskool Die President ready to tackle a new year

Laerskool Die President welcomed old and new students back to school for another year of learning.

Laerskool Die President was abuzz as parents dropped their children off for the first day of another academic year on Wednesday.

For the school’s new Grade Ones the excitement of starting “big school” was clear as they took their place in the school’s hall for this first assembly.

Though the first day of school was both exciting and scary for the little ones, they settled down quickly and were eager to start learning.

Among the Grade Ones were three sets of twins. Lwazi and Fezile Mntambo, Tyron and Dylan Morgan and Different and Difficult Makgale.

Principal Sybrand van Dyk could hardly contain his excitement, as he welcomed old and new students to the school for another year.

“It has been an exciting day filled with promise and purpose,” he said.

“Being entrusted with 170 new young and inquisitive minds is a privilege.

“The day has run smoothly from the onset though we did have a lot of crying moms and stoic dads.”

Van Dyk believes the school is ready to tackle the new year and any challenges that lie ahead.

“Our staff members are ready and motivated and is looking forward to another successful year.

“Our learners are also excited for the year ahead,” he said.
