Twelve killed over festive season in Germiston

The EMPD attended to 12 fatal accidents in Germiston over the festive season.

Over the festive season there were 12 fatal accidents recorded in the Germiston area.

The fatalities included two pedestrians, eight passengers and two drivers.

One pedestrian was run over at the intersection of Barlow and Signal roads and the other one was killed in Katlehong at the corner of Mosoeu and Matsemela streets.

In the only major accident in Ekurhuleni during the festive season, six passengers – three women and three men – were killed in a minibus taxi accident on the M2 highway eastbound at the Geldenhuys Interchange.

A female passenger was also killed in a minibus taxi accident in Phumula Park at the corner of Luthando and Leondale roads.

On the N3 highway near Leondale, a male driver was killed when his sedan collided with a heavy motor vehicle and another male driver was killed at the intersection of the M7 and Brickfield Road in Katlehong.

A total of four drivers, two in Primrose and another two in the Germiston CBD, were arrested for drunken driving.
