The Katlehong Police Station welcomed the new year with 16 new constables joining its ranks.
The constables were welcomed by the station’s management, before being assigned to either the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit or the Detective Unit.
It is hoped that the new officers will increase police presence in the community and help them tackle crime more efficiently.

Acting station commander Col Nomthandeki Mthembu spoke to the constables about the true meaning of wearing the police uniform and encouraged them to wear it with pride.
Afterwards, Katlehong CPF chairperson Ashely Masina welcomed the new officers and urged them to serve the Katlehong community with pride and dignity.
“Saving and protecting the community is of utmost importance,” she said.
She further stressed the importance of fighting corruption within the police force.
