Metro discourages gift giving to waste department employees

The metro is advising customers against the giving of gifts to its waste department employees.

The metro urges residents not to provide gifts to employees from waste management services.

Whether the gift is monetary or in any other form, especially alcohol, the giving is discouraged as this negatively affects the rendering of services.

In the unfortunate case where employees harass residents for gifts, residents are urged to get the employees’ names and/or the vehicle registration number.

These incidents need to be reported directly to the divisional head of waste management operations Shirleigh Strydom on 061 432 5378.
