Dancu reminds residents black bags will no longer be collected
Dancu Residents Association reminds residents that the metro will no longer collect rubbish left on the pavement in black refuse bags.
The Dancu Residents Association, which caters to residents from Dinwiddie, Albemarle (East of the N3 highway), Norton Small Farms (East of the N3 highway), Castleview and Union (East of the N3 highway), is urging community members to collect their municipal wheelie bins.
“It has come to our attention that some residents are still placing their rubbish in the black municipal plastic bags and putting this out on a Thursday morning,” said Charleen Kirby on behalf of Dancu.

This comes after the community was notified that the metro will no longer be collecting rubbish in refuse bags and will only collect refuse in metro wheelie bins.
“Residents are now required to make their own arrangements to remove these bags from the pavements and middle islands.
“These bags attract rats and flies if left for a period of time thus creating a health hazard for us as a neighbourhood,” said Kirby.
