This weekend marked the first of the festive season and the Katlehong police were hard at work.
Through several different stop-and-search operations held by officers from the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit and members of the EMPD, 17 suspects were arrested between December 1 and 3.
The accused were arrested for a number of different offences.

Charges included:
• Driving under the influence of alcohol: 4
• Malicious damage to property: 3
• Common assault: 2
• Possession of dagga: 2
• Murder: 1
• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 1
• Shoplifting: 1
• Missed maintenance payments: 1
• Interference with police duties: 1
• Warrant of arrest: 1
All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
