Shedding light on gender based crimes

Primrose police and other stake holders visit the Makause informal settlement to address crimes in the area, including gender based crimes.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station, together with representatives from Human Trafficking International and Empowered for Greatness, visited the Makause informal settlement recently.

The organisations, represented by Kholiwe Nkosi, Thama Maraganedzha, Anita Mukuchamano and Rosalyn Abwino, visited the informal settlement to address crimes including gender-based crimes in the area.

The team was joined by Miss Common Wealth SA finalist Julia Odiona.

“The group visited the less privileged families from Makause at the Fire of God Ministries Church.

“During the visit the community were encouraged to report any form of crime they are aware of, especially gender-based violence which are giving us as police sleepless nights,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communication officer for the Primrose police.

Before leaving the organisation donated sanitary towels to the attending families.

“Thank you to all the stakeholders involved in this visit.

“We hope that visits like this will help us to reduce crime in the area,” said Maome.
