Second stolen Ford Ranger recovered in Spruitview Gardens street

The EMPD are investigating after two stolen vehicles were recovered in the same street.

Working on GPS coordinates given to them by a vehicle tracking company, members of the EMPD Public Order Policing (POP) Unit recovered an orange Ford Ranger GP.

The recovery took place at about 6pm last Saturday.

The vehicle had been stolen in Midrand and the EMPD officers tracked it to Mokgothu Street in Spruitview Gardens.

It was found abandoned with the engine idling.

A false registration plate number NT 60960 was displayed in front of the stolen vehicle with its interior extensively stripped.

The dashboard was loose and the ignition had been tampered with.

“The recovered motor vehicle was driven to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni for safe-keeping and further investigations,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesperson for the EMPD.

“On November 8 EMPD POPs members recovered a white Ford Ranger in the same street in Spruitview Gardens which was stolen in Brakpan.

“In-depth investigations are underway to catch the culprits.”
