Park clean-up a success

Primrose police, Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk, ward councillor, Afriforum, PRAC and community members join forces to clean-up Primrose park.

Boneschans Park, found at the corner of Shamrock Road and Beaconsfield Avenue is often filled with children enjoying the sunshine after a day at school.

However, the park is also filled with litter and even hazardous objects like broken bottles and other sharp objects and this is why Piet de Wit from Remme-Los decided to make a change and organised a park clean-up.

Recently officers from the Primrose Police Station, members of the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk, members of Afriforum, members of the Primrose Residents Against Crime (PRAC) and Ward 36 Clr Wendy Morgan joined forces, under Piet’s leadership, to clean the park.

The clean-up was a huge success with the team removing bags of rubbish from the park.

“We are humbly requesting visitors to the park to refrain from using the park as a drinking spot. We will conduct regular operations in the park, after seeing a need based on the amount of empty liquor bottles found, to ensure that people are not drinking in public.

“Drinking in public is considered a criminal offence,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
