Community enjoys a day in the sun at flea market

Inaugural Castleview community flea market a huge success.

It was a beautiful sunny day in the city, last Saturday, for the inaugural Castleview community flea market, the Summer Bash, at Stone Arch Square in Castleview.

The event hosted by Amanda van Straaten, the events coordinator of AK Events, together with OK Foods Stone Arch, was a huge success and included a variety of stalls.

“The idea behind the flea market is to bring the community together on a monthly basis,” explained Amanda.

“A huge thank you goes out to all the vendors. Without their enthusiasm the day would not have been the success it was.”

In addition to the interesting stalls, the community was treated to a display of vintage cars and racing cars and a display by Hyundai Germiston of the latest Hyundai models.

While shoppers wandered from stall to stall they were entertained by Cowboy Paul Kruger and DJs Paul Ryneveldt and Renier van Straaten.

Amanda thanked everyone who made the event a success, including Jannie Breed, owner of OK Foods Stone Arch, SW Security, Hyundai Germiston and the entertainers.

“Then all people who kindly brought their cars to be displayed, Kobus van Straaten with his Mazda 323, Mathew Cross with his Beetle and Jason Webber with his Mazda RX-7 rotary,” said Amanda.

The next flea market will be held on Saturday, December 2. For more information, call Amanda on 072 541 8840.
