Wheelie bins, erratic refuse collection frustrate residents

Ward 36 Clr Wendy Morgan is at her wits’ end over the implementation of wheelie bins by the metro. “The Germiston waste refuse removal saga continues,” Morgan said. “Since the inception of the wheelie bins in September, the Ekurhuleni waste department does not seem to have put a proper plan in place. The regular waste removal schedule is not being kept to.”

You said:

• Samantha Graham: “We have a major problem in the Tedstoneville area. Our bins are being stolen only because refuse collection is two to three days’ late because according to them they have to split the workload between two groups.”

• Jennifer Graham: “Absolutely no planning on the part of waste collection.”

• Vanessa Smith: “Marlands is supposed to be collected on a Tuesday. Rubbish was only collected on the Thursday. If my bin gets stolen I will revert back to black bags.”
