Police find home-made gun

Man taken to Germiston Police Station for questioning, after being found with home-made firearm.

While on a routine patrol in the Germiston CBD, last Thursday, officers noticed a man acting suspiciously.

“The officers stopped and jumped out of the patrol van, stopping and searching the man,” said Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS.

During the search police found a home-made firearm in the 32-year-old’s possession.

“The suspect was arrested and brought to the Germiston Police Station for questioning,” Raphulu said.

During questioning the suspect could not give officers a clear explanation as to where he had obtained the firearm or why he had it.

“The accused will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, for the possession of a home-made firearm.

“Police are investigating the incident further and the firearm has been booked in as evidence,” said Raphulu.
