Motorists nabbed for various infringements in Primrose

Twenty-one motorists were apprehended for various traffic violations including reckless and negligent driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.

During a two day operation held last Friday and Saturday, members of the Primrose police and EMPD arrested 21 suspects.

The accused, aged between 24 and 57 years old, were arrested for various traffic infringements including driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless and negligent driving.

“During the operation, some drivers were allegedly found to be drunk while driving while others were caught allegedly driving recklessly,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

All of the arrested suspects were taken to the Primrose Police Station where they were charged.

“We will keep conducting similar operations around the area,” said Maome.

The Primrose Police Station’s management thanked everyone who was hands-on during the operations.

“This is an indication that together we can make Primrose a safe place,” said Maome.

Some suspects paid bail and were warned to appear in court while others remained in custody pending their appearances in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
