Judgement on Angelo move reserved

The proposed Angelo informal settlement move has been in the spotlight again this week.

Lynette Nance-Kivell from Nance-Kivell Attorneys argued for an interdict to prohibit the relocation of residents from the Angelo informal settlement in Boksburg to Germiston, on Thursday, in the Johannesburg High Court.

Nance-Kivell is representing the residents of Marlands against the metro.

Judge Weiner reserved judgement in the matter.

Both sides have been requested to make written submissions on:

• What enabling provision allows the metro to ignore the building regulations and zoning requirements?

• A reworked order for the judge’s consideration.

These submissions are to be made by October 30.

In the interim, the metro is interdicted from continuing any further building works, relocating the Angelo residents and must ensure that nobody occupies the property pending the judge’s judgement.
