CPF celebrates successful family fun day

The inaugural Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF (LKCPF) Family Fun Day was held in Hout Park, last Saturday.

Early-morning cloud cover did little to dampen the festivities at the Lambton Klip Sector Four CPF (LKCPF) Family Fun Day, held at Hout Park, last Saturday.

The inaugural LKCPF Family Fun Day was not just about fun – it also aimed to showcase the integral partnership between the LKCPF, SAPS, EMPD, and the residents of Sector Four.

Besides a selection of interesting stalls and delicious food, the day boasted a cycle race and fun-filled walks, a high school trolley dash, won by Afrikaanse Hoërskool Germiston (Ahgies), as well as a not-to be-forgotten kiddies’ cycle race.

The highlight of the day, however, was the Dunk-Tank, where volunteers were dunked in an inflatable pool as the target was struck with a cricket ball.

“A big thank you to one and all who participated in this successful event. Although it was cloudy in the early morning, with some rain, the day turned out to be full of sunshine and was greatly enjoyed by all, ” said vice-chairperson of LKCPF, Pine Pienaar.

“We believe a firm platform for growth has been laid for a community event that our residents can attend without fear.”

The CPF hopes to grow the event in years to come.

“As it was school holidays and lots of community members were away and therefore could not attend, we hope that this will be a different story next time, as we hope to make this an annual event,” said Pienaar.

The CPF thanked several parties for making the day a success, from Delville Primary School for making their facilities available to all the vendors who provided creative arts and colourful food delights, Renier, who provided background music, and armed response companies SWS, SOG and InCity for their participation, to all the day’s sponsors – ProMinent Fluid Controls (Pty) Ltd, Kia Germiston, Metal, Turtle Life Support and Netcare911. Special mention was made of Pick n Pay, which has supported LKCPF throughout the year thus far.

A special thank you went to the Germiston SAPS, including station commander Brig Nkensani Lemba.

“Thank you to the officers and staff from the Germiston Police Station who attended the event with great enthusiasm and even participated in some events,” said Pienaar.

“Last but not the least, thank you to all our dedicated LKCPF patrollers who were deployed to maintain peace and safety for cyclists and event visitors, backed up by Din-Al-View CPF, Delville CPF, Rotary Club, the Wheelers and EMPD.

“Special mention must be made of the professional way that races and the day’s events were marshalled,” Pienaar said.

LKCPF is now looking ahead to next year’s event, which promises to be bigger, more exciting and filled with fun.
