K9 Unit nabs man for drugs in Rietfontein Road

Members of the EMPD’s K9 Unit apprehended a man for the possession of drugs in Primrose.

While on a routine patrol of Primrose, recently, members of the EMPD’s K9 Unit arrested a 46-year-old man who was found in possession of drugs.

“Officers were patrolling in Rietfontein Road when they noticed a very suspicious-looking man who became noticeably tense when he saw the police vehicle,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The officers stopped and searched the man and found a plastic packet containing a white substance officers believed was crystal methamphetamine in his possession.

“Police questioned the man and he admitted that the white substance was, in fact, crystal methamphetamine,” said Maome.

He was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station where he was formally charged with possession of drugs.

He will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
