Sixteen suspects apprehended in Katlehong

The Katelhong police arrested 16 suspects in a recent 24-hour stop-and-search operation.

In a continued effort to curb crime in Katlehong, the Katlehong police recently held a 24-hour stop-and-search operation.

During the operation, which saw officers from the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit visit several areas within Katlehong, 16 suspects were arrested.

The accused were charged with a number of different crimes.

Crimes included common assault, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, house break-in, theft, robbery, pointing of a firearm, and possession of drugs (including dagga and nyaope).

All the arrested suspects were taken to the Katlehong Police Station pending their appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.

The accused have since appeared, with their cases being postponed for various reasons.
