Man’s cellphone and watch stolen during armed robbery

Two men apprehended, with the help of a local security company, for armed robbery.

While walking in Rietfontein Road, on September 19, a man was approached by a group of men.

One of the men threatened the victim with a sharp object, while another searched him.

“The suspects took the man’s watch and cellphone and fled on foot,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

Officers from the Primrose Police Station and personnel from a local security company were called to the scene.

“Members of a local security company were able to corner two of the accused.

“The victim’s cellphone and watch were found in the men’s possession,” said Maome.

The men were arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station where they were formally charged with armed robbery.

They will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
