Guests help raise funds for Childline

R1 donations help aid children.

Leading hospitality group Peermont Hotels, Casinos and Resorts extends its heart-felt appreciation to all guests who helped make a difference in a child’s life through their donations to Childline South Africa, in partnership with Peermont.

In a fund-raising initiative that launched on April 1, 2013, guests were given the choice to donate R1 to Childline South Africa at check-out, with all proceeds going towards funding a number of the NGO’s initiatives.

These include vital programmes and facilities designed to protect children and teens from all forms of violence and abuse, as well as providing young people with access to counselling services.

The organisation also offers programmes that raise awareness of children’s rights among parents and educators.

“A heartfelt thank you goes to our wonderful guests for their generosity.

“To date we have managed to raise over R23 000 for Childline,” said Christelle Carstens, group rooms operations manager at Peermont.

“It is so heart-warming to see how a small amount of money that many of us take for granted can go so far.”

The money raised from guests’ contributions will help to fund a dedicated crisis line for at-risk children and teens, educational programmes on child rights, volunteer training, appropriate training for professionals who work with children, therapy for abused and traumatised children and their families, legal assistance, and much more.

Peermont also provides Childline with complimentary venue hire for meetings when required as a value-add to its contributions.
