Primrose police recently arrested a 55-year-old man on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
The arrest was made while officers were patrolling in Mimosa Road, in Primrose.
“Police noticed a suspicious vehicle and asked the driver to pull over so that they could search the vehicle,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
Inside the vehicle they found several boxes hidden under a plastic sheet and inside the boxes were different types of cosmetics, valued at R90 000.
“Officers asked for proof of purchase from the driver but he was unable to produce it or give a clear explanation as to where he had obtained the items,” said Maome.
The suspect was arrested.
He appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
