Raising awareness about crime in Primrose

Youth desk and members of the Primrose police distribute safety tip pamphlets to residents.

Crime remains a concern for both the Primrose police and residents.

To try and tackle the problem members of the Primrose Crime Prevention Youth Desk, with the help of officers from the Primrose Police Station, visited various suburbs in Primrose, last Wednesday, to address crime issues in the area.

Police have noted an increase in crimes like house break-in and theft, motor vehicle theft and theft out of motor vehicles.

During the visit over 300 safety tip pamphlets were distributed to community members.

“Police and members of the youth desk also interacted with residents warning them about the top crimes taking place in the sector.

“We hope our community will take them into consideration and that the tips will help in their time of need,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The team will continue to host similar operations in the hope of bringing an end to crime in the area.

The youth desk also appealed to community members between the ages of 15 and 35 years, with a passion for helping the community, to join the team.

Youth desk meetings are held every Monday evening, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, at the Primrose Methodist Church, in Primula Street.
