Two female EMPD officers are under investigation after being caught on video assaulting a female motorist in Symhurst, recently.
This comes after the two officers, who were with another (male) officer, were policing a stop street on the corner of Cactus Road and Ceres Street.
“An altercation occurred between the motorist and the officers,” said Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the EMPD.
“The motorist was arrested on charges of assault and failing to provide her name and address.”
Kgasago said the motorist was detained at the Primrose Police Station.

“The motorist also laid a counter charge of assault against the officers the day after the incident,” said Kgasago.
“Apparently, the officers have since taken leave of their own free will.
“An investigation by our internal Integrity and Standards Unit (ISU) is underway.
“Statements need to be taken from all parties involved and the proper steps will be taken after the investigation.”
