Man robbed while waiting for tow truck on N3 highway

Primrose police arrest 32-year-old for common robbery.

While waiting for a tow truck, after his vehicle broke down on the N3 recently, a man was robbed by three men.

“The victim told officers the men smashed his window and robbed him of his cellphone and bank cards,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

A passing motorist reportedly saw the attack and chased the suspects.

“He was able to corner one of the suspects and the 32-year-old man was arrested,” said Maome.

“The suspect was assaulted before being handed over to the police and, therefore, we once again, appeal to the community not to take the law into their own hands.”

Police took the man to hospital for treatment after the attack.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on a charge of common robbery. His case was postponed for plea and trial.
