Man arrested on several different charges in Primrose

Primrose police arrest man for attempted truck theft, possession of motor vehicle break-in implements and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 27-year-old man on charges of attempted theft of a truck, possession of motor vehicle break-in implements and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The arrest was made in Rietfontein Road.

“The complainant alleged that after offloading his truck he locked the cab and left the vehicle for a short time.

“When he returned he found the accused inside the truck and attempted to get him out,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

During the struggle the suspect allegedly stabbed the complainant with a sharp object.

“Community members came to the victim’s aid and they were able to overpower the suspect,” said Maome.

Police were called to the scene and the man was arrested.

Station commander of the Primrose Police Station Col Albertina Vesi thanked the members of the community who helped to apprehend the suspect and commended them for not taking the law into their own hands.

“The suspect was detained at the Primrose Police Station where it was discovered that he is wanted in connection with seven other crimes throughout the province,” said Maome.

He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
