Welcoming spring in style

The Puma Energy Flying Lions kicked off the new season with a flight over Sandton.

Spring has sprung in the city and to celebrate it the Puma Energy Flying Lions, who are based at Rand Airport, thrilled Sandton residents with a flyover last Friday afternoon.

Sandton residents and workers were amazed when at midday they caught a glimpse of the four world-renowned pilots Scully Levin, Arnie Meneghelli, Ellis Levin and Sean Thackwray’s unmistakable Harvard T6 aircraft in the sky.

The flyover was the team’s and their sponsors’ Puma Energy’s way of marking the end of the cold, dry winter and welcoming the bright new season.

The world-class Flying Lions have navigated the four ‘Texan’ aircraft in breathtaking, synchronised aerial displays at airshows and trade shows across South Africa and neighbouring African countries for the past 17 years. The team still includes two of the founding pilots.
