Stabbing leaves man critical, one arrested

Community member’s eye-witness account of stabbing leads to arrest.

After a man, who was extremely scared, entered the Primrose police station recently and told officers in the charge office he had just witnessed a stabbing, the police rushed to the Makause informal settlement.

“The man informed the officers that the suspect had allegedly stabbed the victim with a sharp object,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose SAPS.

“Upon their arrival at the scene, an ambulance was in the process of transporting the victim to a hospital.”

The officers followed the ambulance to the hospital and when the victim was examined by a doctor it was established that he was in a critical condition.

“The doctor confirmed he had sustained an extremely deep stab wound,” said Maome.

“The officers were shocked to see the condition of the victim and returned to the settlement to track down his attacker.”

They traced the 24-year-old suspect and he was arrested on a charge of attempted murder.

The Primrose SAPS station commander, Col Albertina Vesi thanked the members for arresting the suspect so quickly.

He was detained at the Primrose police station and appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court where the case was postponed for a bail application.
