Issue of murder highlighted in Makause

Primrose police and the youth celebrate Women’s Day in the community.

Young women from the Primrose SAPS Crime Prevention Youth Desk and members of the Primrose police recently spent Women’s Day educating the community.

They visited the Makause informal settlement and spoke to people about crime in the area, especially the increase of murder in the settlement.

The SAPS and the youth drove around the informal settlement handing out safety tip pamphlets relating to murder, as there were recently three murders in one weekend.

“As police we are really concerned about the safety of our community but we cannot predict who the murderers are,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

“Our community must come forward and provide us with information and we will act on it.

“They know who the people with unlicensed firearms are because they are staying with them.”

He added that the Primrose police will continue to hold operations in the area.

The station commander Col Albertina Vesi thanked members of the youth desk for their contribution to reducing crime in the area.

“We urge community members to join structures like the CPF to help police fight crime.

“The only way to win this battle against crime is to work together,” said Maome.
