Members of the Primrose SAPS recently arrested a woman on a charge of concealment of birth.
The 25-year-old woman was nabbed in the Makause informal settlement after the officers received a complaint via radio control that there was a woman who had allegedly aborted a foetus, put it in a plastic shopping bag and thrown it into a pit toilet.
“When they arrived on the scene they found the story was indeed true and arrested the accused on a charge of concealment of birth,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose SAPS.
She has appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court and the case was postponed for plea and trial.
