The N3 highway near the Geldenhuys Interchange has been reopened to traffic.
The highway was closed yesterday after the collapse of a pedestrian bridge across both sides of the highway.
Kobeli Mokheseng, media liaison officer for the EMPD told the GCN that the highway was opened to traffic in the early hours of Thursday morning.
“It was anticipated that it would take two to three days to clear the highway but the teams worked hard and managed to clear it,” he said.
He added that the scene had been handed over to the national and provincial departments and on Thursday morning the Minister of Transport Joe Maswanganyi and the Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport Ismail Vadi visited the scene of the bridge collapse.
