Doing it for the children

It was all about the children at Good Hope Day Care Centre’s Mandela Day.

The office of th, in partnership with the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), EMPD and support services joined forces to make a big difference at the Good Hope Day Care centre on Mandela Day.

Employees from the departments gathered at the centre to show their support.

“We varnished the wendy house and the roof at the day care,” said William Ntladi, the district manager media liaison for DEMS.

Chauke took time to reflect on what the day means to her and South Africa.

“We are celebrating the life of the honourable Nelson Mandela; it is his day today,” said Chauke.

“As a country, we have taken the decision to spend time with and assist those in need.

“We are here to assist the day care with some of their much-needed essentials.”

Chauke thanked all the parties involved for making the day a success.

“Thank you to all the companies who helped sponsor this day,” said Chauke.

“We wouldn’t have been able to do it without their assistance.

“A big thank you to all those who dedicated their time to make this day special for the children.

“We have been preparing this event for the past two months or so and it is humbling to see it being a success.

“We urge all South Africans to join hands in ensuring the day works for all in need in the name of our fallen hero.”

The principal at the day care, Jone Louw was lost for words.

“I really don’t know what to say; I am just very happy,” said Louw.

“I am over the moon; all these things will help the children a lot.

“The children will be well taken care of for a long time and I wish blessings upon all who gave generously.”

The children at the day care centre also received toys and played with the fire brigade mascot.
