The elderly residents at Elandsvallei Home for the Aged in Primrose kick-started their Mandela Day celebrations with a bang, last Tuesday.
The residents were visited by Jaguar Land Rover Bedfordview, as well as a number of other businesses and two clients, namely Sinovia Dunn and Prudence Xaba, who came on board with the project.
The event was organised by Michelle Smit, the marketing manager of Jaguar Land Rover Bedfordview, and the day saw the elderly eating, chatting, having leisurely drives in fantastic vehicles, listening to music, getting massages and much more.

It took a lot of organisation and hard work to make the day extra special for the residents and Jaguar Land Rover Bedfordview thanks the following businesses for partnering with them:
- Complete Cyclist Bedfordview who supplied toiletry packs for each one of the residents.
- Engen van Buuren who supplied 100 pastries and 100 muffins, as well as donating R2 500 to the home.
- Auto Armour East Rand who donated magazines, as well as R1 500 to the home.
- Print Out who donated tins of non-perishable food.
- PSA Signs who donated gifts bags for every resident.
- Eden Projects who donated R1 000 worth of herbs for the herb garden at the home.
- Spar Bedfordview who donated 67 loaves of bread, 67 cans of food and 67 apples.
- Mowana Spa who treated the residents to hand, foot and shoulder massages.
- Jaguar Land Rover Experience who took some of the elderly for some leisurely drives in fantastic vehicles.
- St Benedict’s School who brought some of their learners to sing and play the piano and bagpipes for the residents.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated in it.
