Suspected business burglar found hiding in long grass

The Elsburg SAPS arrested a man on a charge of business burglary outside a Wadeville business.

Hearing the company’s alarm going off at 3am last Friday, a security officer at a Wadeville company went to investigate.

As he was walking towards the building he noticed three men running away from it and jumping over the wall.

“He pressed his panic button to alert the security company’s office to send back-up to the premises,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.

Upon the arrival of additional security officers, the property, as well as the area behind the wall where the men had jumped over, was searched.

“This area is an open veld with long grass,” said Phooko.

“The search in the veld yielded one suspect who was hiding in the long grass.

“In his possession were some electrical appliances and tools.”

The 32-year-old man was apprehended and handed over to the Elsburg SAPS who arrested him on a charge of business burglary.
