Local store brings smiles for Mandela Day

Hirsch’s Meadowdale gives back to Compass on Mandela Day.

Mandela Day has been inspiring people across the world to take action and influence change for 67 minutes on July 18, each year.

To honour Nelson Mandela, Hirsch’s Meadowdale demonstrated their commitment to social change by giving back to the Community Provision and Social Services (Compass) Daycare Centre in Edenvale.

Compass is a non-profit organisation which houses and shelters individuals by providing dignified home environments where people can have a second chance in life.

Hirsch’s used their 67 minutes to spoil the 45 children at the centre with some delicious treats and an inspirational movie namely, Big Hero.

“The things that sometimes come so easily to us are not always granted to these children and to be able to see the excitement on their faces and to spend some time with them was heartwarming,” said Letitia Haywood, the public relations officer for Hirsch’s Meadowdale.
