Public meeting in Ward 39 set to discuss issues

The Ward 39 community is urged to attend this meeting on Saturday, July 8.

A public meeting for residents of Ward 39 is set to be held this Saturday.

The meeting starts at 10.30am at the Dinwiddie Hall, situated at the corner of Eltham and Esher roads, Dinwiddie.

During the course of the event Ward 39 councillor Clr Alta de Beer will introduce the newly-elected ward committee to the community and a number of presentations will be given by officials from the metro.

Residents will also be afforded the opportunity to raise concerns and issues affecting them.

Metro officials have been invited to discuss the following topics:

1. Call centre and logging of calls (this is a major issue in the ward).

2. City planning – what the plan is in regard to shack farming and illegal buildings.

3. EMPD – members’ attendance at CPF meetings in the future, the establishment of a relationship of trust with residents and how to deal with known drug problems in the area.

4. Energy: how the more than 400 broken street lights – recorded by the community – will be fixed.

5. Departments responsible for Weideman Dam rehabilitation – presentation on the project.
