EFC helps animals in need

“I read the article and saw that the Germiston SPCA was in financial crisis and desperately looking for food for the fur babies.”

The Edenvale Football Club (EFC) recently donated animal food and blankets to the Germiston and Bedfordview SPCA.

The donations were given to the club by the community of the EFC, Edenvale and surrounds.

Justin Holder from EFC and a Germiston resident took up the initiative to start the donation drive after reading an article asking for assistance for the SPCA.

“I read the article and saw that the Germiston and Bedfordview SPCA was in a financial crisis and desperately looking for food for the furry babies,” explained Holder.

He decided to take action and started collecting food and blankets from the teams at EFC.

He said members of the football club also asked the Edenvale community for assistance.

Although the club has handed over the donated items, this is not the end of the EFC’s quest to help animals in need.

A member of the football club has asked the SPCA for permission to use the SPCA logo to do more food drives.

The club is waiting for the go-ahead from the NSPCA.

Holder said the EFC plans to hold another donation drive for the Edenvale SPCA.

“We at Edenvale Football Club would like to thank our parents, players and community for their contributions.

“We would also like to challenge other football clubs, other sporting clubs and schools to support their local SPCA,” said Holder.
