Man crushed under trailer in Germiston

ER24 paramedics attended the scene of an accident where a man was crushed under a trailer on Tuesday.

A man was killed on Tuesday afternoon when he was crushed by a trailer on Witdeep Road in Germiston.

ER24 paramedics came across the incident at approximately 1.10pm.

“Upon arrival, paramedics were led to the trailer by the local authorities,” said Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson.

“A man, believed to be in his 30s, was found lying beneath a large waste removal trailer.

“Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.”

It is understood that the trailer had apparently come loose from the waste removal truck.

The trailer then veered off the road and into the man who had been walking on the pavement.

“Local authorities will be launching an investigation into this matter,” Meiring said.
