Black bags lead to arrests

Two suspects were arrested on charges of house robbery in Germiston.

Germiston SAPS members noticed thee suspicious-looking men walking in the streets of Germiston, during their recent patrols.

The men, aged between 20 and 30 years old, were carrying black plastic bags.

“When the suspects saw the police, they dropped the plastic bags and ran,” said Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS.

“Police gave chase and arrested two of the suspects, who took the police to the house where they had allegedly stolen the items in the plastic bags.”

The victims told police that they were sleeping when they heard people walking around inside the house.

“One of the victims saw three males, in the house, who forced them to lie down on the ground,” said Raphulu.

“The suspects allegedly began to ransack the house and load items into the black plastic bags.

“One of the suspects allegedly pointed a firearm at the victims as they were lying on the ground.”

Raphulu also said the suspect with the firearm managed to run away and the two who were arrested will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon.
