Woman stabbed with screwdriver, robbed

A man was arrested on charges of armed robbery in Dinwiddie.

A 23-year-old suspect was arrested in Dinwiddie by the Germiston SAPS after allegedly stabbing a woman with a screwdriver, on Wednesday.

This was after the suspect approached the victim demanding that she give him her cellphone.

The suspect then allegedly took out a screwdriver and stabbed her in her right hand and ran away with her handbag.

“Community members who saw the suspect running away gave chase and managed to apprehend him,” said Captain George Raphulu, head of communications at the Germiston SAPS.

“The victim’s handbag and cellphone were recovered and the suspect was arrested and charged with armed robbery.

“He was taken to the Germiston Police Station and will appear in court soon,” Raphulu said.
